When should you introduce solids to your baby ?

I'm a first-time mom, and my baby girl just turned 6 months yesterday. At her last pediatrician visit, the doctor suggested we start introducing solids around 5.5 months. We tried giving her banana, daal ka pani, sweet potato, and water, but she really didn’t like any of it. We paused for a couple of days and tried again, thinking maybe she was ready this time. But seeing other babies online starting solids at 4 or 5 months and eating so well made me feel like I must be doing something wrong. I didn’t want to give up though, so today I started again — this time with a banana shake mixed with breast milk. She had a few sips but mostly spit it out. Still, I’m trying to keep offering it gently. I don’t have any extra help around, but a good friend gave me some advice: "Don’t focus on filling her tummy. Make this Navratri more delicious with Makhan Kheer

Navaratri is one of the most awaited and sanctified festivals in the Hindu tradition. Fruits and some limited sattvic food are eaten by the devotees in these nine days. These foods are really good in increasing their positivity and keep them energetic in all ways. It also helps you to cleanse all the toxins you have accumulated in half the year as Navratra comes twice a year.
Makhana kheer is a sweet dish that you could eat simply in these days of fast. This recipe is too easy to make with less effort. You’ll surely love the color, taste, and scent of it. If you’re not having the salt in these days, it can be a great choice to full your all craving. Even if you are fitness freak, you are going to love this because of its low calories.



Serves: 6 members

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 60 minutes

Ingredients:

Fat-free milk: 1 liter
Makhanas: 3 cups
Sugar: 3 tbsp
Almonds: 10 chopped
Saffron: 5-6 strands
Cardamom: 1 (crushed)
Raisins: 20 (washed)

Method:

Firstly, roast the makhanas for 10 minutes on a very low flame in a non-stick pan without adding ghee. After it, turn off flame and let them cool at room temperature. Thick grind roasted makhanas in a food processor.
Put some milk in a deep pan. Add the makhanas, cardamom, and saffron strands in it. Give it a boil on high flame and then let it cook for 45 minutes. Mix sugar and soaked almonds in it. Cook for another 15 minutes on low flame stirring it occasionally.

Turn off the flame of gas, add raisins in it and give a little stir. Let it be cool at the room temperature. Keep it for sometime in a freeze. Serve this dish chilled.

Makhana kheer is a kind of dessert and it is often made during Navratri. Well, it is great for any festival or occasion as well. Stay blessed and enjoy the days of fasting!
